Why Pride Still Matters to Us at Dreamhouse Salon

Why Pride Still Matters to Us at Dreamhouse Salon

At Dreamhouse Salon, Pride isn’t just a word. It’s who we are. As an LGBTQ-owned business in Fayetteville, we live our truth every day—and we celebrate it all year long.

But sometimes, being visible comes with pushback.

A Reminder of Why Pride Is Still Important

Recently, we submitted a simple ad for a local magazine’s June issue. It said, “Happy Pride 2025” with rainbow imagery. Nothing political. Just a joyful, supportive message.

Unfortunately, the magazine’s corporate team asked us to remove it. They said that content highlighting specific groups—like LGBTQIA+ people—wasn’t allowed.

That moment reminded us of something: Pride is still necessary.

Because when a rainbow is seen as controversial, it shows we still have work to do.

Pride Is About Visibility and Belonging

Our message was not about politics. It was about people. About community. About love. When inclusive language is policed, but other types of messaging pass through without question, it creates imbalance.

So we speak louder. Not to cause trouble, but to take up space. And we’re proud to do it.

We want to thank the local editors who had our back. They showed real care and inclusion, even when it wasn’t easy. That kind of support matters. And it keeps us going.

Pride at Dreamhouse: More Than a Month

For us, Pride is not just one month out of the year. It’s woven into our salon culture. From the way we hire to how we serve our clients, everyone is welcome. Always.

We will never shrink to fit someone else’s comfort.

And we will never stop celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community that helped build this space.
